Machine washable slipcovers- YES!

Machine
Wash and Dry
your Slipcovers at Home!

Washable slipcovers are indispensible when you have kids, pets, and actually use your furniture (as opposed to that 'guest' furniture or 'showcase' furniture that no one's allowed to sit or nap on).

You CAN have washable slipcovers that stay beautiful for years, don't shrink, and like a great pair of jeans- get softer and more beautiful with each washing.

Some fabrics are always going to be a dry-clean only situation.

Know what you're getting yourself into before you commit to a major fabric purchase.

Choose the Right Fabric and Always
Wash a Test Swatch

Some fabrics are ideal for machine washable slipcovers.

Try denims, twills and canvas - fabrics with a high cotton content that reminds you of your trousers, jeans or khakis.

Always do a test wash. Cut a square of your fabric, (one foot by one foot or larger).

Throw the test piece in the laundry with your towels or jeans. Wash and dry it. Do this twice.

Examine the color and texture after it's dry and make your decision.

If you can live with the color and texture, that's a good indicator. Measure the swatch to see how much it's shrunk after one and then two washes.

Prewash Your Fabric TWICE
and Dry it
at Least TWICE.

If you're satisfied with how your test swatch came out of the washer and dryer twice, go ahead and wash your entire slipcover yardage. Try to do it in one piece if possible.

Make sure to use a front-loading commercial washer for its superior cleaning ability, better tumbling agitation and larger size. Take it to a laundrymat if you need to, and use theirs.

If your fabric is denim or canvas, machine wash it with HOT water and use lots of detergent. Wash it twice this way.

Prewash and dry your fabric yardage at least TWICE to achieve maximum shrinkage.

Dry it twice on HIGH heat. Take your fabric out of the dryer for the second time and quickly roll it or fold it gently to minimize wrinkling.

Have your yardage ready for our cutter-draper at the first in-home or office appointment.
