Why do you want me to purchase my own fabric?

Why do you want me to purchase my own fabric?
We'd make more money if we insisted you buy your fabrics from us, but it's a question of ethics. Most upholsters and slipcover providers make you buy fabrics they carry because it's easier to make money selling materials than it is to sell your labor. But we've learned from experience that customers are happiest when they can buy their fabrics wherever they choose. If you wanted new tile installed in your bathroom, would you want a tilesetter you didn't know to work on your project simply because he 'came with the purchase' of your materials? Of course not. You'd want the best tile setter.

Can I machine wash my slipcovers?
Yes. IF they've been made to be machine washed. If you had us cut and make your slipcovers, and you prewashed your fabric according to the instructions we gave you, then yes. But IF you purchased your slipcovers ready-made from another manufacturer, and you decide to machine wash them rather than dry clean them, you're taking a huge risk. Don't do it. Back slowly away from the washing machine. We advise you never to machine wash something you're not sure about. Manufacturers such as Surefit and even Sundance, Pottery Barn and Ikea (sadly) cut corners by not prewashing their fabrics. And why should they? If you were in business to make as big a profit as you could on materials, you wouldn't go the extra step of prewashing fabrics either because customers get romanced by the idea of new slipcovers, they get swept up in the shopping moment, and they rarely consider what needs to happen in the future. Some fabrics are going to be dry-clean only, period. For anything you want to be able to wash and dry at home, click here for more instructions! Follow them and you'll stay happy!
