Slipcover Yardage

Slipcover yardage made easy! Here's your formula:
To make custom slipcovers it's important to have more fabric than the upholstery chart (below) shows. This is because we make the decking (the part underneath your cushions) from your slipcover fabric, instead of from cheap muslin. We also make your slipcover skirts in two layers of your fabric, so they hang properly with adequate weight and shaping.

If the chart below indicates 16 yards of fabric to upholster your piece of furniture, but instead you want slipcovers, use this formula:

16 yds x 25% = 4yds
16 yds + 4 yds = 20 yds fabric you need to purchase to fully cover your furniture item.

Remember:
The chart is for upholstery, not slipcovers. Follow the formula above and always buy more fabric than you need. Plan on contingencies to avoid disappointments! Fabric often contains flaws or stains you don't see at the store, and if you run short on fabric then go back to find more, you may discover it's a discontinued pattern or out-of-stock.

Yardage on the chart above is figured on solid patterns and doesn't account for things such as but not limited to: Cording being cut on the Bias, Material with a repeat pattern in one or both directions, Head or arm covers, loose back cushions instead of attached cushions, slipcover skirts, self-lined skirts, material railroaded or not, and other factors.

The upholstery chart yardages are also based on basic solid fabrics, doing a very basic upholstery job. Please adjust yardages for your specific upholstering style, slipcovering style, material being used and design difference in the exact piece you are covering.
